On June 5th, 2025, VOICE of Peru Parents Board, and other Visitors, met with Indiana State Representative, Ethan Manning, to discuss the dire need for The Bullying and Neglect Complaint Oversight Committee at Peru Community Schools, and the possibility of mandating it in ALL Indiana Public Schools.
Mr. Manning was very receptive to the idea.
We also discussed the need to attach criminal codes to the already existing Indiana anti-bullying laws, so schools and school administrators can be prosecuted if they don’t follow the law.
Right now, there are no criminal codes attached, so it cannot be prosecuted when administrators refuse to follow the law.
Mr. Manning is going to write a bill to mandate The Bullying and Neglect Complaint Oversight Committee, and try to get support from more representatives.
