Peru Community Schools Board Meeting 2025-09-08: VOICE of Peru Parents had three people talk about the need for Administrative Oversight, and the Bullying and Neglect Complaint Oversight Committee.
Highlights:
Danielle Manriquez talked about why she volunteers on the board of VOICE of Peru Parents, and how much the change in the school system is needed. 15 Peru Families have already reached out to us just since this school year began, and that tells us the committee is needed.
Bridgette Richardson talked about how obvious it is who really cares about the Kids and who don’t. Anyone that is resisting the oversight committee obviously doesn’t hold the best interest of the Students.
George Morris talked about the need for the committee and pleaded with the board and superintendent to implement it, saying, “VOICE of Peru Parents will continue to lift the rug and expose what is being swept under it, in absence of the Oversight Committee, because we have to. Once the oversight committee is implemented, VOICE of Peru Parents will fade away and the committee can take over.”
Superintendent McCormick spoke up and “guaranteed” no such committee will ever be in place, stating privacy reasons.
George Morris dispelled the false claims of the superintendent, stating he has already talked to attorneys that specialize in Education Law, and they assured that, Once the school writes the committee into their policy and gives/defines authority of the committee members, and places requirements of privacy agreements with the committee, no privacy laws are violated at all.
The false claims that privacy laws prevent the committee won’t work!
If privacy laws prevented the school from implementing this committee, those same privacy laws would prevent Principals from doing their jobs, and would prevent the entire Athletics Department from existing.
The administration has the power to establish the committee and give/define the authority to such committee, and write it into their policies legally.
The Administrators that are resisting this oversight committee are doing so because THEY DON”T WANT OVERSIGHT!
